First-time setup with macOS
macOS needs you to allow Link to share your screen & communicate with DC-1. After opening Link, accept and follow the three macOS permission prompts for Screen Capture, Network Discovery, and Direct Screen Access.
Daylight Link doesn’t have any Dock icon. Link appears as the Daylight logo within your menu bar at the top right, near the clock.
When DC-1’s connected, access display options within Link’s menu bar icon.
First-time setup with Windows
Daylight Link installs our display driver so your DC-1 can act as a real second monitor, and our USB driver. Windows may ask you to confirm both. They may need administrator permission.
Windows 11 hides new tray icons. If you can't see Daylight Link’s tray icon, click the ⌃ arrow next to the clock, and drag Link’s icon onto your tray.
Connecting your DC-1
The View app comes with Sol:OS. Open the Software Update and Store apps and install any updates waiting there, then find View in your app list.
Daylight Link runs on your desktop. View runs on DC-1. Both need to be open at the same time.
Over USB-C
- Plug your DC-1 into your computer through USB-C.
- Open View on DC-1.
- Tap USB-C.
Use data cables. Some USB-C cables are charge-only. They carry power but no data, yet look just like fully-functional cables. Try different USB-C cables when one doesn’t work.
Over Wi-Fi
- Make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network
- Open View on the DC-1.
- Your computer appears in the Computers list by name.
- Tap & connect.
Doesn't appear?
- Connect with address instead. On your computer, click the Daylight logo in your menu bar or system tray. It shows your address like
192.168.1.42. - On DC-1, type your address into the box at the bottom of the Computers screen & tap Connect.
If your computer never shows up: public networks, like schools, hotels, and corporate Wi-Fi, deliberately stop devices talking to each other. Daylight Link can't work around that. Use USB-C, or try your phone’s hotspot.
Using View
Your DC-1 mirrors your computer screen. Your keyboard, trackpad and mouse keep working as normal, and the pointer moves onto the DC-1 as you'd expect.
With an external keyboard/mouse connected with DC-1 over Bluetooth and/or USB-C hubs, you can interact directly with your desktop from DC-1 itself. You can also use touchscreen gestures.
You can also use View as your second monitor, and drag separate windows onto it. Click Daylight Link’s icon in your menu bar or system tray, then choose Extended display.
To exit, tap your DC-1’s screen along the very top-center to bring up View actions, and tap Exit.
Note: Second-monitor mode isn’t available when using ARM-based (Snapdragon) Windows PCs.
