DC-1 Webcam Guide

Use a USB webcam for video calls, straight from your DC-1 โ€” no computer needed.

Before you start

  • Make sure your DC-1 is up to date: open Settings and install any waiting system update. The latest update includes camera improvements โ€” install it before your first call.
  • Video calls work best in landscape โ€” the DC-1 sideways in its keyboard case, screen wider than tall.

Setting up

  1. Plug the webcam in first. Connect it to the DC-1's USB-C port before opening your video call app โ€” apps only look for the camera when they open. Hold the DC-1 in landscape with the USB-C port on the right, the way it sits in the keyboard case.
  2. Open Google Meet or Microsoft Teams.
  3. When the app asks for permission to use the camera and microphone, allow both.
  4. Join your call.
Order matters. If you open the app first and plug the webcam in after, the app won't find it. Close the app completely โ€” open the recent-apps view and swipe it away; just pressing Home isn't enough โ€” then plug the webcam in and open it again.

Which apps work

  • Google Meet โ€” supported
  • Microsoft Teams โ€” supported
  • Zoom โ€” not yet confirmed on the DC-1 itself. If you need Zoom, run it on your computer and use Daylight Link to put your computer's screen on the DC-1 โ€” the call runs on your computer, with its camera and microphone.
